5 a-day

Following the Health guide lines of eating 5 portions of fruit or vegetables a day, I went on a shopping spree in Morrisons.
I bought:
red peppers,
2x bags of Rocket, Spinach and Red Chard lettuce,
Pomegranate,
Sugar snap peas,
Green beans,
Stir-fry box,
Sweet potatoes,
Sweet corn,

and a few essentials such as:

Trains. Some people love them, some people hate them; hate the public transport system, the over pricing and the service: we all know British trains are ALWAYS late.
But are they all that horrible?

Over the last few weeks, I have racked up over 9 hours of rail time, and loved every second of it.
Not a single train was late.
And I got super cheap prices too!

Real Winter Breakfast

Good morning all,
I am currently tucked up on my bed with cushions and blankets all around to keep the warmth of the night in.

I have just finished my very delicious breakfast of real porridge:

3/4's cup of Traditionally Rolled Oats (Scotts Oats are my favourite),
1 cup of milk,

Crazy Things At Uni

Reverting back to my studenty side, last weekend my boyfriend and I decided to make vodka gummy bears after a recipe I'd seen online recently (see below).

We bought a bag of Haribo Gold Bears and the Smirnoff that was on special offer.

  • Empty bag of bears into bowl.
  • Pour vodka over to completely submerge them.
  • Leave for about 24 hours, until all the liquid is gone.
The bears will puff up and some may be a bit harder than normal in the middle, but they are great.
WARNING: They will disappear very quickly! (And you'll be drunk but that doesn't really matter!)

Beginning of the Cold Season

I just love the cold seasons. Whistling winds blowing the remaining maroon and golden leaves under my toes, sunsets at dinner time and the Clementine and rose flavoured clouds on the horizon.  Thick tights, layering jumpers and sweaters, scarves and hats. They all are the signals of the best time of the year to come.

I've been looking up Winter recipes with root vegetables and spices and stocks. This is the season when my slow cooker earns it's keep.

Harvest Festival

Today I have read The Independent, and in the magazine supplement a young lady was commenting on the Harvest Festival.
I haven't celebrated the Harvest Equinox since Primary School and on reading the article, I realised what a shame that is.

Next Choice

The next long term decision I need to make is this:

Start my career as soon as I finish my final exams, or
Travel, learn and see?

If you had asked me yesterday, I would probably would have said the former option, but I think today I got back in touch with my goals and dreams and Stumble upon has been sending me beautiful pictures of places that I had nearly forgotten about;

Customer Service

A few entries for you today seen as I've been making a mental list of the things I'd like to blog about and my website keeps changing so I thought that Blogger would be the best place for it.

Buying my netbook in Currys was definitely an experience. My boyfriend and I were down in Southampton for the weekend to see my Aunt and Uncle, we arrived early on Friday morning so we decided to go to the shopping centre and have a mooch around.

Late Dealz

Does it annoy you when people replace '-s' with '-z'? It does me. Me and my partner booked our first real holiday on Sunday; by real I mean flying somewhere abroad. On the confirmation sheet the holiday is listed under "Late Dealz", why? Why not just "Late Deals"? It sounds and looks so much nicer, don't try and be hip and cool, you're a holiday for two twenty year olds (and being under £600 for 2 weeks!), you're already awesome.

We leave on Thursday! Yup, it really is a late deal, although our lovely travel agent did look at us leaving yesterday! Nowhere near enough time to pack and panic. At least I had yesterday, today and tomorrow to sort myself out. Not that I've had much to do, or had any means to sort out the things that need sorting, like I have no shorts; but that's not an issue, I can drive myself to town tomorrow after Mum gets in from work.

Of course being a student and not having had time to get a job yet, spending money is being strictly budgeted on a day-to-day basis while we're away so as we can eat and drink at the least! Although there really shouldn't be much else to spend money on; the island is tiny so we can walk to anywhere we want, and swim anywhere else around the island. The hotel has a large pool, it is also about 100m from the beach which stretches a good few miles from shingle to white sand. Ah, I can't wait. I've got about 10 bottles of sun lotion ranging from factor 50 to factor 10, just in case! Well, I'll be hogging the +30 SPF because of my silly pale complexion, making me burn like a tomato, but Chris will probably have a lovely olive tan with the factor 15.

Not much else to report, I'm in desperate need of a job as soon as I return, so please gimme one someone! Please?

I'll let you know how our holiday was, with plenty of photos no doubt.

Heave-ho

It's the Easter break. Everyone keep asking how long I'm on holiday, "well, I'm not in lectures for 3 weeks, does that count as a holiday?" Apparently the word "holiday" doesn't mean anything for a University student.
Christmas is filled with revision for the exams to come in January, Easter is filled with revision, and summer is for this year only, packed full (hopefully) with meeting participants and filling up my lovely new Oxford notepad with observations and notes.
Yep, it's that part of my university career; the dissertation. It's rearing it's big, expectant head, waiting to be fed no doubt many hours of sweat, blood (let's hope not), and most definitely; tears.

So in answer to your earlier question: "How long are you on holiday for?"
